Not exactly the performance I expected but certainly the one I prepared for:
Squat: 683 lbs / 310 kgs
Bench: 402 lbs / 182.5 kgs (PR)
Deadlift: 793 lbs / 360 kgs ( Comp PR)
Total: 1876 lbs / 852.5 (PR)
Bw: 226 lbs / 102.77 kgs
After some atypical disagreements between myself and the judges concerning my squat depth I had some work to do to stay relevant in the meet. However, my first 400+ bench ever & what felt like a bottomless wealth of deadlift energy were enough to secure me the win in the 105s as well as the overall win in the heavyweight men. I can't say that I agree with what the judges saw on my squats including the easiest 700 of my life, but when we choose to compete we willingly subject ourselves to be judged by standards potentially different or higher than our own. I would always rather they demand we leave no doubt than give away a gift that i don't feel like I earned. Next time I'll be even better prepared to make their job easier by giving them something more convincing.
Bench went amazingly and was a 5kg meet PR with more in the tank.
Deadlifts felt unstoppable and while I was really hoping to get my shot at the American record that we had been working towards of 812 an opening arose to take a safer 3rd to win the class and the overall. It would have been pretty egotistical to take more than was needed to go for the record when securing the win was such a small jump up so @eric_tsa made the right call to drop the third to 793 for the higher priority goal. It was an honor lifting with some of the most incredible lifters on the planet. No time to stay complacent we have a lot of work to do!
