A lot of you have been asking how to fix a muscle imbalance, so in this video, I give 3 tips to start balancing out your body.
First and foremost, and it may seem simple, but you need to really focus in on what you're trying to do while you're at the gym. You're not trying to just get the weight from point A to point B.. You're trying to stimulate your muscle fibers to create micro trauma to get them to rebuild bigger. So when you're going to do a set of an exercise where you need to be working both sides evenly, create that mind/muscle connection with your muscle and focus on targeting the muscle group that is supposed to actually be being worked. And if you can't properly lift the weight that you're using when you start focusing on that mind/muscle connection, drop weight.
Next, try unilateral weight training. This means, instead of doing exercises when you use both sides of your body at the same time, work your right side, then your left. And you can do this while alternating or you can do all your reps on one side, followed by all your reps on the other side. This will help you target each side the same amount.
Last but not least, start incorporating additional volume at the end of your workouts. But, this does not mean just do extra exercises. This means do additional volume on ONLY the under-developed muscle group. But when working for muscular growth, you must understand that you need to be going for higher rep and slower tempo. Whereas if you're going for strength, you go higher weight and faster, but still controlled, tempo.
Try this out and let me know how it goes!
