Senggigi on the island of Lombok, Indonesia, with its 6 miles of beach, is an alternative for those who want to escape New Year's Eve from the snow.
A large part of the daily life of the natives takes place on the beach. Either the fishermen are with their narrow fishing boats on the sea or they catch their daily food with traditional nets or with fishing rods. The sounds of the gamelan can be heard everywhere.
In the evening you can enjoy the sunset; its fantastic colors are an alternative for any firework. Time and again, the gaze falls on Mount Agung, a more than 9,900 ft high volcano that dominates the eastern part of Bali.

Ein Großteil des täglichen Lebens der Einheimischen findet am Strand statt. Entweder sind die Fischer in ihren schmalen Fischerbooten auf See unterwegs, oder sie fangen mit traditionellen Netzen oder mit Angelruten ihre tägliche Nahrung. Überall hört man die Klänge des Gamelan.
Abends genießt man den Sonnenuntergang, dessen ungewöhnliches Farbenspiel jedes Silvesterfeuerwerk ersetzen kann. Immer wieder fällt der Blick auf den Gunung Agung, einen über 3000 m hohen Vulkan, der den Osten Bali's überragt.
